Sports media has a definite effect on public perception of athletes. Often times media distorts the truth and shapes the viewer's perception of athletes negatively. Because media is constantly present, journalists can easily stereotype athletes and viewer's are always surrounded by this stereotype. Most sports journalists have a strong following of viewers and their viewers usually have the same feelings and stereotypes, most viewers do not question the media's sources or information whether it is true or not. I do believe that some athletes do hurt there reputation and enhance there stereotype by some of there actions. People such as T.O, Pac man Jones, and Ochocinco leave a bad taste in the mouth of viewers and this bad taste has the tendency to rub off onto other athletes that might not have done anything wrong.
