Athletes are roll models, i remember growing up and wanting to be just like Jeremy shocker. Athletes are roll models because kids see them on TV all the time and the kids want what the athletes have. any athlete that says that they are not a roll model is just ignorant because they know that kids look up to them because of their fame.

  1. Ok, so athletes are role models. What are the characteristics that kids are looking up to? Since, athletes are role models do we expect them to be perfect? Do you think children want the fame that athletes have or do they want to imitate their favorite player? Expand beyond the basic athletes are role models because they are on TV all the time. Extend and strengthen your argument.

  2. to nik's comments, for me growing up from chicago i always looked up to Micheal Jordan a lot of kids did. When i looked at him and what he was i saw a hard worker, a leader, dedicated to his team, love for the game, someone who would give it his all, team player, and those are just some of the things i saw from him that made him stand out to me as a person i looked up to. I dont think we expect them to be perfect because nobody is perfect so there are times for flaw like it is for everybody. people make mistakes, it will never stop. A parent who is a role model wont be perfect just like an athlete wont be. I think some kids just want the fame and want to copy there favorite player, but i think there are kids out there who look up to these athletes to some day be better then them and have there own life and be the best. They copy there favorite player now so they think when they are older kids will copy them.

  3. I agree with gimm. I had role models and while watching them especially when they were athletes i wnted them to do really well. If they acted up and acted like idiots it kind of upset me in a sense to wear i was pissed off.
