having a native American mascot for your school isn't a big deal to me. it starts becoming a problem when the native Americans start becoming offended about the the dancing, and the dancing of the mascot. the native Americans take lots of pride in there dancing, feathers, and war paint.

    Gimm is right. The main problem is when people begin poking or making fun of the mascot and the Native Americans probably do not appreciate that. But, in this situation no one was gettin made fun of. If anything it was showing loyalty to Native Americans.

    I agree with John here in the fact that I think it becomes inappropriate when people slant their views or say racial slurs towards the mascots instead of honoring them. I also think that the fans are not trying to slight their mascots or the Native American rituals, especially when you watch the video and hear the illini fans speaking how much pride they have for their "chief". I just think that some of the people are ignorant to the Native American culture.
