In my opinion, the role that sport journalists play in our society is to present the facts in a very biased way. As a viewer, you often see the journalists reporting about the athletes who "act up" or seem to have problems with temper, arrogance, unlawful actions, etc. It is very rare that you see a journalist report about an athlete who has completed 100 hours of community service, or continuously reaches out to a less-fortunate group of individuals. However, many people point the finger at the journalists for this, when I believe we should "blame" ourselves. It is our society who values and is entertained by those who break the law or have problems controlling their temper or ego. We are more intriguied with the "villains" of our sport than we are with the athletes who "lay low" and seemingly do the right things. In addition, I do believe that the journalist do hold a lot of power in the sports world because when you own the information you are allowed to bend it and present it in any way you wish.
