One interesting question is if you are going to ban indian names from the NCAA, will you take it from high school teams too? Having played high school sports, and being called the chiefs, I have noticed that there are quite a few indian mascots just in my little corner of the state, let alone around the nation. Will these native americans push to have all of these mascots banned as well? If so, it could cause a lot of drama in high school sports across the nation.

This is definitely a major issue. I too went to a high school where we used a similar nickname (the Indians), and in my last couple years there our nickname was a topic of hot debate. I'm not sure how much momentum the push to change the name still has behind it, but I remember so many teams just in my area alone that have related nicknames. It's hard to imagine the number of teams in the entire country that have names referencing Native Americans. I also think changing these names would kind of water down the idea of team nicknames — we would just be stuck with more and more generic 'lions', 'tigers', 'hawks', etc.
