I dont think athletes should publicly talk about their political views. They need to remember how many people listen to every word they say. They need to remember that they are athletes and not politicians. Many fans hang on every word that their icon says, so that may lead them to make a political descision soley based on something their favorite athlete said.

I agree that many fans hang on every word their icon says, which is why I think it is so important that athletes are careful of what they say. They need to make sure they know what they are talking about when they speak. But again, I think society needs to be more independent and critical of what people say, even their icons.
ReplyDeleteI agree that people need to be more critical of what people say. Like both of you said many fans will believe and follow every word their favorite athlete says and not even think about it without knowing how much knowledge there icon may have in that area. So I think that athletes should keep there political views to themselves and if they do speak out then we need to me more critical of what they say.
