To me sports journalist dont have much better things to do, so they interview people who they think people will read about anyways. One type of person is those of the dallas cowboy cheerleaders. These cheerleaders are obviously a bit of sex appeal. Anytime that someone can get to be involved with these cheerleaders it will make them feel good. But, also like i saw in someone elses post the cheerleader did not even know what was going on. Should there be boundaries set on who and who should not be interviewed if the interview does not have to do with that sport directly?

I do not think there should be "boundaries" but I do think that a sport's journalist should know how to interview and who for that matter. It is not that they have nothing better to do it is just that it is a different viewpoint than the traditional football player or coach. I think that the standards set for these cheerleaders are high and they should not be discriminated against becasue they may not have an intelligent answer every now and then. Really, how many times has a player made unintelligent comments?
ReplyDeleteI agree with emily. I dont think the journalist crossed any boundries by interviewing these cheerleaders. The journalist is just trying to get another perspective about the sport. It is similar to when they interview fans and ask them their opinions about the team issues. The fans responses are still valuable even though the fans are not directly related to the team.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily as well. Journalists should be allowed to ask anybody just about anything, but the person being interviewed needs to be careful about what they say. That being sad, the journalist should also make clear his or her intentions for the information gathered from their source, and they should also be understanding about the situation, like after a tough loss.
