I agree with Jonathan when he was talking about men being tested. If any male performing has an outstanding performance they are instantly questioned for cheated and using performing enhancing drugs. She broke the 800 meter record by over 2 seconds so a similar question comes up. Is she actually female? Is it fair to questioned her? No, but because of the past issues with cheating especially in track and field it is necessary to test her. That is how society views special performances. Is it legit or did they cheat?

  1. Great point made by Jake, in our society today it is hard for people to believe outstanding performances are for real. Thanks to steroids, officials betting on games, and even the New England Patriots video tape scandal has made everything that has been accomplished or won in the sports world subject to cheating. It is too bad that sport has come to this.

  2. I agree with Jake and smeth 3504 sports have become all about if the person is cheating or not. Athletes are always looking for easy ways to improve and there turning to cheating which is ruining sports. Almost everyday now you turn espn on and you see someone else is caught for taking performance enhancing drugs.

  3. I think you too bring upa great point in that males are not usually tested for there gender but for performance enhancing drugs... Whats funny is that society sees this type of questioning and as normal. I good instance is that you win the NCAA Championships, in wrestling atleast, every champion is required to take a drug test. This is to say that the NCAA is so worried about the "best of the best" using eligale drugs rather than the entire community of athletes. I think this brings us back to this instance where becasue she has great success there was a magnifying glass on her, so really men are treated this same way with a different variation.

  4. They are all great points, it is interesting that in both cases with the men society suspects them of using performance enhancing drugs if they are great at something and now this where they are actually looking at the gender to see if she cheated. Professional sports have made it that way because when a star athlete gets caught using performance enhancing drugs the media is all over it, but if a athlete isn't a star in the league people dont usually here about it so it is easy for one to assume that only the stars are using the performance enhancing drugs.
