I believe that there should be tests ran on her. I don't think that it is very fair if a supposedly girl is running against other women and she has testicles that are pumping testosterone it is not really fair. It's not exactly her fault, thats just the way these situations go. She probably will and should have some type of testing to see if it gives her an unfair advantage. If something is revealed that she is more of a man than a women, obviously she should be asked to be dismissed from womens racing, and then possibly try racing against men.

I completely understand your point that she needed to be tested to see if she cheated. But at the same time they should have done it before the race and not just because she won. Then it wouldn't have such a negative affect on her. Now because they waited to test her they completely publisize everything. I agree they still need to have these kinds of tests to make sure its fair but why not just do these tests in private?
ReplyDeleteI think they should not take away the gold medal because she earned it believing she was a women. From here on forward she should race against males because technically she is a male. This is such a tough sitution but rules are to be upheld and in turn she must race against what her sexuality is.
ReplyDeleteHer sexuality is a female. The testes may have had nothing to do with her winning no one knows. I think this situation has brought up a good point that needs to be addressed in sports that if someone is born with a body part that shouldn't be there where should they compete in men or womens sports?
