The Dallas Cowboys cheerleading article was kind of interesting to me on how they're forced to do well on a test given to them during tryouts. If they don't do well they don't make the squad. It makes sense why they have them take it, but like they said in the article cheerleaders aren't the ones being interviewed after the game. I also think it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the players take a test, but have it be about that teams history. I'm not saying it should count agaist them if they make the team or not, but do it so the players know a little about what they're playing for.

I think the test for the cheerleaders is a great idea. Because there job description is to lead chears for the team and if they don't know anything about the team your chearing for its gonna make the team look bad. The Cowboys just got a new stadium and want to have everything top of the line, so i dont blame them for making there cheerleaders learn some history about the team. As far as football players go, they already to there job and in an interview they would never be asked about history they are usually asked about there performance.
ReplyDeleteI agree in that the cheerleaders should know what they are talking about but I disagree in that the football players should not have to take an exam. If your on the team I think that some knowledge is required concerning the history. I think it is ridiculous on how much football players do not have to know and still be able to play and get paid.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that it cheer leaders should know about the sport that they are cheering for, I wish it was that way in high school. However, I don't really agree that they or the players should have to take a test as far as team history, I think they should just want to know some of the team's history and what the team represents.
ReplyDeletePersonally I don't think it really matters one bit whether or not you know history about the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders other than the fact that they are all smokin' hott. I honestly thought it was kind of funny to read especially when these athletes getting paid millions of dollars can't name 3 types of protein or whatever it was they asked. But I do think it is kind of dumb for things like this to be associated with cheerleading but since the owners want it to be more than just looks it does make sense.
ReplyDeleteI definitely found this to be a good read. t was very entertaining. However, I have to admit, that it is pretty ridiculous to have a tryout cheerleader to go through the tests they go through. I understand that they take pride in being Texans and that they want specific people taking the job, but that is a little extreme, considering most people could care less about the hiring process.
ReplyDeleteI think the whole tests issue is something that many cheerleaders go throuhg even in the highschool ranks. I have heard of this type of testing before for much younger girls and I think is is part of the whole cheering idea, to know who your cheering for. Also I think it might be a movement for these women to try and prove themselves and not just Hott girls. Furthur it doesnt surprise me one bit the football players did bad on the test, many are likly to not be from anywhere near dallas or Texas for that matter, unlike a cheerleader who is more likely to cheer for a team they live close to etc.
