I definitely believe that sports journalist should take responsibility for the things that they present to the public. After all, sometimes that is our only source for information. I do belief that much of the images and ideas that we have about sports and particular players come from the media coverage because like I said, a lot of times that is the only access we have to the sporting world. With that said, it is also the media's job to make money and to promote themselves so when we view these things we should do so with that lens in mind. They want to spur our interests and get us going. I think another great point is that without the media these sports would not exists as well as many of the rivals that exist today. Who created the rivalry between two unrelated teams? Why does Michigan and Ohio State hate each other so much? Much of these rivalries get brought on by the media to get more interests in a game and then this gets carried over to the fans players etc.
